In sequence to the protest launched by the scholars of Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) ile-ife, facing the death of a final year student. The management has ordered the school to be shut down indefinitely.

Topnotchupdate online learnt that Adesina Aisat, was a 24-years old final year student of foreign languages department. She gave up the ghost at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital ile-ife.

According to the protesting students, it was reported that Adesina Aisat had a brief illness. It was reported that the university’s health center poor management caused her death.

In counteraction to the accusation made by the protesting students of Obafemi Awolowo University, the management of this citadel of learning (OAU) in a statement by its public relations officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju ­withhold the indictment and urged the students to take the edge off.

The Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University condemned in robust terms the continual and uncontrolled protests by the scholars. Without a doubt, the protest caused a block of the Ife/Ibadan and Ife/Ede highways as different routes.

Olanrewaju, whereas explaining that the management understood the grief that has resulted from Aishat’s untimely death. He said that the University had exhausted all necessary avenues to call the scholars to order and permit for normalcy to come to the field before it took the choice to shut down the college.

“The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, have consequently closed down the college till more notice. This can be to prevent more breakdown of law and order.

“In view of this, all students are instructed to vacate their halls of residence. And also the campus at large latest by 12:00pm on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021.

“However, the swearing-in of the new electoral Students’ Union officers has been placed on hold as well.

Meanwhile, the varsity management has put in place the mechanism to unravel the circumstances encompassing the immediate and remote cause(s) of the crisis.

The university exponent expressed that the management sympathizes with the parents friends, colleagues and also the entire students of the University on the unhappy loss and prays for the peace of her soul.
